“First Ladies Man”?
Who is the “First Ladies Man”? Andrew Och has assembled one of the largest archives of interviews, information, material and footage regarding American First Ladies. His presentation on Friday, September 12, at 2 p.m. in the Clubhouse II Auditorium, will highlight what he has learned about these women and how their stories relate to all aspects of life in our modern world.
American First Ladies are some of the most influential unpaid and unelected women in the world. Much of their efforts and many of their accomplishments have gone unrecognized. Would you like to know: Who was the most educated, the funniest, the best cook, the most artistic, the most underappreciated? Och’s presentation will answer these and cover much more about the first ladies in a fascinating and entertaining talk.
About the Presenter
Och was a producer for the C-SPAN series "First Ladies: Influence and Image." His travels and research have given him the opportunity to learn about every First Lady of the United States. Och has written two books: “Unusual for Their Time” Volumes I and II, covering Martha Washington to Melania Trump.
He continues to visit and explore cities, towns, villages, homes, schools, churches, birthplaces, cemeteries, train stations, farms, plantations, libraries, museums, general stores, town centers and cottages that relate to our American First Ladies. Learning everything he can about these amazing women is a lifelong project for him.
The Center for Lifelong Learning (CLL) sponsors this presentation, and residents are asked to register beginning Tuesday, August 19, at 9 a.m. by calling or visiting the Lifestyle office of either clubhouse. A $5 fee will be collected at the door and can be paid by cash or check payable to the Center for Lifelong Learning.
