Tom Conger

This class will be given in the auditorium at Clubhouse 2.

Across its vast spaces, the U.S. has great landscape diversity, due in part to physical factors such as land forms and climate impact as well as distinct cultural heritages. The course will examine the entire nation, looking at uniform regions which will be multi-featured, representing an area’s combined physical and/or cultural elements.

About the Instructor Having lived in numerous regions of the U.S., Conger has observed up close the beauty and wonder that is present in the country’s many different landscapes. He has traveled all 50 states of the country, observing its mix of cultural heritages and environments, allowing him to visualize a mosaic like nowhere else on Earth. As Conger is quick to point out, the term “landscape” has a particular meaning used to refer to the look of a place and to the many messages that are clearly visible in the environment’s details.
