Instructor Paul Levy

The Center for Lifelong Learning (CLL) sponsors the class “American Foreign Policy – Past, Present, Future” to acquaint enrollees with the tools of foreign policy analysis and to apply them to five nations, each representing a concern or challenge to the United States. On five consecutive Thursdays, Oct. 9 through Nov. 6, from 10:00 to 11:15 a.m. in Clubhouse 1, these countries will be considered: Mexico, the Democratic Republic of Congo, the People’s Republic of China, the Russian Federation, and Israel.

The instructor, Paul Levy, will provide a packet of basic information, statistical, political and historical, for each country, with portions expected to be read prior to each class. Enrollees are encouraged to use additional news sources to access current events that pertain to each of the five countries. Levy reserves the right to change the countries to be discussed in light of changing world conditions.

Enrollees should come with an open mind, an appreciation for divergent views and an understanding that each class is an exploration and, may not end with a clear resolution.  Those who enjoy deep discussion should find this course enriching.

Paul Levy has been a very active teacher for the CLL.  He holds three degrees from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and spent many years as a teacher and school administrator at secondary and college levels.

The course fee is $15. For registration information, see the Classes and Seminars section of this edition of Leisure World News.
